For those who know him know that he had the most generous, strong, fierce spirit and heart. There was no one like him. He paved the way, establishing a legacy as an honored and revered surgeon and teacher. He tirelessly gave his health, money, time, skills, and heart to his patients, often performing surgeries in exchange for chicken or rice or whatever people could provide. He generously cared for people who worked with him years, decades after we moved to the US. He sacrificed willingly and with no reserve. He supported his family through thick and thin in whatever way possible. He made us so proud to call him doctor, husband, father, brother, son. He was affectionately called “Doc Alex” and “Totong” known for his lion spirit.
